Safety Tips & Guidelines

A clearer guide for joining or hosting 1:1 and group meet-ups on Loop with confidence, good communication and common-sense safety.

For 1:1 and group meet-ups

Quick guide

The basics are simple: meet in public, keep control of your travel, communicate clearly, and trust your instincts if something feels off.

Before you go
Choose public places and make a plan

Check profiles, confirm the details in chat, tell someone where you are going and arrange your own transport.

While meeting
Stay aware and protect your boundaries

Keep belongings secure, limit what personal information you share and leave early if you feel uncomfortable.

If something feels off
Trust yourself and report it

Your safety matters more than being polite. End the meet-up, leave the situation and use reporting tools if needed.

Before engaging in meet-ups arranged through Loop, take a moment to review these guidelines so you can plan confidently and help keep the community respectful, safe and welcoming.

Before the meet-up

  • Use photo galleries: Check photos and linked socials where available to make sure the person appears genuine and consistent.
  • Communicate clearly: Once a meet-up is confirmed, use in-app chat to confirm the time, place, activity and any relevant costs.
  • Agree on costs: If money is involved, make sure everyone understands the expected split before meeting.
  • Choose a public location: Meet in a busy public place such as a cafe, sports or fitness centre, park or pub. Avoid secluded or private locations.
  • Tell someone: Share the details of your plans with a friend or family member, including who you are meeting, where and when.
  • Arrange your own transport: Travel independently to and from the meet-up whenever possible.
  • Trust your instincts: If anything feels wrong before the meet-up, cancel. You do not need a bigger reason.

During the meet-up

  • Stay in public areas: Stay in well-lit public spaces and avoid moving to isolated locations.
  • Keep personal items secure: Be mindful of your belongings and your food or drink.
  • Protect sensitive information: Do not share details such as your home address, financial information or passwords.
  • Limit alcohol consumption: Drink responsibly and keep your judgement intact.
  • Have an exit plan: Know how you will leave if you feel uncomfortable. You can end the meet-up early.
  • Share costs fairly: Stick to the arrangement you agreed in advance and avoid awkward last-minute disputes.

After the meet-up

  • Reflect on the experience: Decide whether you felt comfortable and whether you would want to meet that person or group again.
  • Report concerns: If you experience or observe inappropriate behaviour, use the app reporting tools as soon as possible.

Guidelines for honest and respectful communication

Honesty

  • Be genuine: Use recent photos and accurate information about yourself.
  • Be transparent: Be clear about why you are on the app, whether that is meeting new people, joining activities or building your local social life.

Respect

  • Respect boundaries: Do not pressure anyone to share more than they want to.
  • Use polite language: Keep conversation respectful and avoid offensive or inappropriate language.
  • Be patient: Let connections develop naturally and do not rush people into meeting.

Communication

  • Listen actively: Pay attention to what others are saying and respond thoughtfully.
  • Respond clearly: If you are busy, set expectations rather than leaving people guessing.
  • Clarify intentions: If your plans change, say so early and avoid leading others on.

Verification

Loop’s verification badge is designed to help users feel more confident that a profile matches the person using it.

How it works

  • Peace sign selfie: Users submit a selfie doing a peace sign, which is manually compared against their profile photos.
  • Profile review: We review consistency across their name, pictures and other profile details.

Important to note

Verification can add reassurance, but it is not a guarantee. You should still check someone’s full profile, look at any linked socials if available and follow the safety guidance on this page before meeting in person.

Your safety is always the priority. If anything feels off, report it in the app or reach out to the team.
